Begegnungen mit Beethoven.
Politische Macht und Musik
This season pianist Saleem Ashkar is giving eight concerts at selected Berlin venues to play the entire cycle of Ludwig van Beethoven’s piano sonatas. At each concert, he uses film sequences and discussions to link the “rebellious artist, who consciously stood at the centre of world affairs” of his day with those issues which are still preoccupying our global society. In this way, Beethoven is suddenly present in the mid-21st century – vibrant, argumentative, contestable and human. The performance on this evening is dedicated to “Political power and music”.
