Crises, Social Media and the Arrogance of Perspective

Panel Discussion

An event organized by the Akademie der Künste and n-ost

Greece, Ukraine, Syria: Rarely has Europe been shaken by so many crises as it is today. Social media is a catalyst and multiplier of new developments: Suddenly, perspectives and arguments from other media spheres breach our own perception of the world. For the first time, we can see the impact of our narrative and which (counter-)reactions it incites. These dynamics challenge the content and structure of the established journalism and scrutinize the previous hegemony of our perspective.
