9th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art at the Akademie der Künste
Opening 3 June
The Akademie der Künste on Pariser Platz is one of the venues of the 9th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art. The 9th Berlin Biennale involves the Akademie’s foyers and event spaces on all floors. The opening of all Biennale exhibition venues, such as the ESMT European School of Management and Technology, The Feuerle Collection, the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, as well as the Blue-Star sightseeing boat of Reederei Riedel will take place on Friday, 3 June, 7 – 10 pm. The exhibition runs until 18 September.
The 9th Berlin Biennale is curated by the New York collective DIS, consisting of Lauren Boyle, Solomon Chase, Marco Roso, and David Toro. The Present in Drag seeks to materialize the digital condition and the paradoxes that increasingly make up the world in 2016: the virtual as the real, nations as brands, people as data, culture as capital, wellness as politics, happiness as GDP, and so on.
The Berlin Biennale takes place since 1998. It is organized by KW Institute for Contemporary Art and funded by the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation).
